Our landscape maintenance staff has put together for 2016 a comprehensive calendar of when maintenance tasks should be performed.  Our high desert experience has shown that "instructions" without the benefit of local knowledge are most times wrong.  And, a new manual of specific and relevant maintenance activities is now given out at the completion of each landscape services project. To view the calendar or "The Essential Maintenance Manual" see our Landscape Services home page.  Plus, come see our selection of high desert approved, water-wise and drought tolerant landscape plants.Water-wise-24x36-proof--Fin.gif

2016 features improved Wild Birds Unlimited Nature Shops with low everday seed prices on the freshest seed in town, a Moana You Tube Irrigation Video showing how to turn your system on (March) & off (November) as our local weather dictates.  Water-Wise Home Improvement specials are always favorites and our edible and color (annuals & perennials) gardening areas now feature more emphasis and choice.  New gift and garden essential products and a full line of Gardner & Bloome organic products (G&B Organics) & Bonide recommended best products for the high desert.

How Much Water??? (a question we are asked often)
The answer to that question is ... you need to water enough to keep the soil evenly moist. With our warm and windy weather and especially for new plantings, that may mean every day but probably not. Until you get a good feel for how much water your plants need, the best thing to do is to gently poke around the soil just below the surface and adjacent to the root ball. The soil just outside the root ball should be moist but not wet. If you were to grab a handful it would clump together when squeezed but not drip any water. Factors such as sun exposure, wind, soil conditions and your irrigation method will all influence the water frequency needed. Eventually infrequent but deep watering will keep your plants healthy but until they develop an established root system you will need to monitor them closely.
