Tips from Jon for this month:
Pest Notes
Thrips are here. We have been getting many calls from concerned gardeners with roses which lose their flowers soon after opening.
This damage is caused by thrips, small insects which live inside the developing flower and leaf bud. The best treatment for these insects is the use of a systemic insecticide.

Caring for Your Landscape
Temperatures are now reaching the century mark. Be sure to follow the recommended guidelines on watering. Excessive moisture on your lawn, together with warm night time temperature, will encourage lawn diseases. Your plants will need more water during these hot months, which means more water on your watering days, not more often. Too frequent water will cause a decline in health in an established landscape. A healthy, well developed and planned landscape will experience fewer insects and disease.
