FROM THE EDITOR

DIABLO NINEBARK

This fast growing shrub  has season long interest.  It has deep burgundy leaves and attractive white blooms in summer.   Growing to 5-6’ high and 4-5’ wide, it is perfect for the back of the perennial garden or mixed  in shrub borders or as a foundation plant.  The flowers and foliage are great for cutting.

TREE & SHRUB OF THE MONTH

Gardening Tips for May/June

Plant warm season annuals, vegetables and herbs after May 15th (our average last frost day).

Activate compost pile by adding garden soil, Dr. Earth Feather Fertilizer and water, then turning it into the pile

Apply Scotts Super Turf Builder Plus 2 to keep your lawn green & kill unwanted weeds.

Clean ponds and add bacteria supplements and barley pellets to keep pond balanced and algae free.

Plant summer bulbs – cannas, dahlias, gladiolus, tuberous begonias, etc - when the soils warms up.

Prune spring flowering shrubs – lilac, forsythia, quince, etc., immediately after they bloom.
